The Maiden 2021
The Maiden & Laurie Toone win the 2021 Maiden Championship for owner Dale Steinmetz
The day following The Maiden Championship in 2020, Brandon Tate was hard at work the next day and located this full sister and purchased from top breeder Ted Nelms thru the Rising Star Ranch colt extravaganza. The Maiden (barn name Mai) is by the great Jose Jose and out of Black Gingerale (Gens Black Gin). Mai is the full sister to 2020 Maiden sensation Jose's Twist Of Gin. After Brandon found Mai, Dale Steinmetz quickly jumped at the opportunity to purchase her as he had been searching for his next top pleasure mount.
Laurie rode Mai in the finals on July 30th, 2021. In a class that started with 45 entries that year, this team made history as the first filly to take home a Maiden Championship as well as Laurie being the first woman to ride to the title. This filly went on to The Celebration that year to win 2 World Championship titles as a World Grand Championship!
The Maiden is in training at Joe Lester Stables in Shelbyville, Tennessee and is owned by Dale Steinmetz.
