The Maiden 2024

B. Purdy + BJ Richards win the 2024 Maiden for owner Patti Pollack.

From a field of 56 entries, 4 splits came down to an exciting Final that found B. Purdy and trainer BJ Richards in the winner’s circle for the 2024 Maiden. This win is Bj and Patti’s 2nd Maiden win together as a trainer and owner.

B. Purdy was born and raised at Spencer Benedict Stables. After a start under saddle with Layne Leverette, BJ Richards and Krysta Allen recognized talent and reached out to Patti Pollack. Soon the trainer/owner trio had their sights set on the 2024 Maiden!

The inspiration behind this colt’s name is Brock Purdy, the famous, young San Fransisco 49ers quarterback. As the final pick of his draft year for the NFL, Purdy gained the nickname of “Mr. Irrelevant.” Later in an interview, Brock went onto to say “I’m right here. I’m right in front of them. They talk about all these guys that are great but never mention my name. Someday, they’ll have no choice but to see me because I’ll be standing alone.” After a solid and consistent ride in a 22 horse Final, Patti’s colt was already her “Mr. Relevant.” The fact her boy was crowned the 2024 Maiden Champion just proved his relevancy to the walking horse industry as well.

We all had no choice but to see him. B. Purdy was standing alone.

B. Purdy remains in training with Revival Stables at Spencer Benedict Stables in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and is owned by Patti Pollack of Shelbyville, Tennessee and Saratoga, California.
